About Me:
|
|
“I started writing rhymes when I was 13, then started rhyming at school when I was 15, and not until I got my hands on a sequence keyboard that I started putting the lyrics and beats together and I haven’t stopped. The first show I set up, led to the next and each show after that, gave me back-up to continue, and as I continued to finish songs and got more back-up by friends and fans, and that was the sign to continue: now I got “Black and White” my current release.
I love old school hip hop and I love drum and bass from England and the French electro, and the Tokyo bonus tracks you only get in Japan, the American spirit of creation: Blues, Jazz and Funk, I had a lot to choose from since every one of them are all part of me growing up.
Damir started rapping in his early teens; at his Elementary School where he participated in a Hip Hop show covering The Sugar Hill Gangs Rappers Delight, Damir’s crew matched up in blue and gray striped windbreakers syncopated their wind mills, back spinning and hand spinning, was were he formed his own enthusiasm for music.
I like mixing up beats and tempos, I can’t tell you exactly, cause I don’t know myself, I just know I like doing it and it sounds good to me, as the other kids were hanging out, music made sense to me, so I focused on it.
I’m always writing something down a scribble, a word, a phrase, a hook or even a page of writing, or I type it into my cell phone, new cell phones have great memory chips, you know you can store anything in there and downloaded it to your pc later. So I’m not in the studio, I’m out with my family or friends watching a movie, bowling, talking on the phone and going out to house parties and clubs, that’s where I’m most creative. When I get down to the beats, it takes time.

I come from a huge family so I learned quite fast about fending for yourself; they taught me survival skills; working hard, and working hard. I attended a music school and took rudiments in musical theory and focused on using the sequence 16 track keyboard for a number of years until I got over the learning curve of using a new keyboard. The Sugar Hill Gangs Rappers Delight, I still have a copy of the record, and I will never sell it and Renegade Sound Wave which I also have, but on CD. “I’ve been influenced by many sounds, types of music, especially the club scene, growing up on both sides of the 49th parallel, New York City, Toronto, Vancouver and living in London and Tokyo and Seoul has had an enormous impact in my life, Sounds like Beastie Boys, Beck, Kraftwerk with a conscious message as A Tribe Called Quest, and De La Soul.
